Poetry International London
focused on Palestine and the Middle East, hosting poets from around the world on the theme of imagining peace.



At the Festival for the first time was
Ramsey Nasr, Poet Laureate of the Netherlands (Dichter des Vaderlands), celebrating his first book in English translation that was published by Banipal Books – Heavenly Life – Selected Poems – to coincide with the Festival's performances.

He joined Jasmine Donahaye, Adam Foulds and Nathalie Handal at readings on Saturday evening, and afterwards signed numerous copies of his book.

 

Among the Arab poets at Poetry International were some from the US whose works were included in Banipal 38 –Arab American Authors: Elmaz Abinader, Fady Joudah and Liza Suhair Majaj.
