Habib
Sayegh is one of the pioneers of the prose
poem and his poetry has a special position in this field. He was born in Abu
Dhabi in 1955; majored in philosophy and psychology in 1977; and obtained an MA
in Comparative Languages, Science and Translation from London University in
1998. In 1982, he founded the independent literary magazine Awraq (Papers), based in Hackney, London.
He is currently an
editorial manager at Al-Khaleej
newspaper in the UAE. Since 1980 he has published eight collections of poetry.
In 2011 his selected works are published by Dar al-Intishar al-Arabi, Beirut.
