Azza Rashad is an Egyptian writer who was born in 1961 in the country's Eastern Province, where she is the chief paediatrician for the Ministry of Health.
Her first novel, A Memory of the Desert, was published in 2003 (Merit) and her first collection of short stories, I love Nura, I hate Nurhan, in 2005 (Sharqiyaat). See Banipal 30 for two of her short stories. She won a state award for the short story in 2010.
