Khalid Kishtainy
was born in Baghdad, and has lived in the UK since shortly after the 1958 coup in Iraq. He is an author, translator, broadcaster, and has a daily satirical column in Asharq al-Awsat newspaper. He has published many books, including Arab Political Humour, Grandmother’s Tales (reviewed in Banipal 18) and Tomorrow Is Another Day: A Tale of Saddam’s Iraq (pub. Elliott & Thompson, 2004, and reviewed in Banipal 23),
