Halim Barakat
was born in 1933 into a Greek-Orthodox Arab family in Kafroun, Syria. A novelist and short story writer, he has degrees from the American University in Beirut, and Michigan, and is presently Research Professor at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies.
