was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, and has a BA in English Literature from Alexandria University. After a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the United States, she gained a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Rhode Island.

She is currently an Associate Professor of English at Salve Regina University, USA. Her publications include an English translation of Amina Zaydan’s Red Wine (AUC Press, 2010). In 2011 she received the Sister M Therese Antone award from Salve Regina University for her efforts to promote intercultural awareness and communication.
