Lina Hawyan Alhassan is a Syrian novelist, born in 1975. She was awarded a Diploma in Advanced Philosophy Studies from Damascus University in 2001. She currently lives in Lebanon and has worked as a journalist for the culture section of the Syrian newspaper Al-Thawra since 2003. She has published ten works of fiction, a collection of poetry and three non-fiction works that are studies of the Syrian desert. She took part in the 2010 nadwa workshop for creative writing organised by the International Prize for Arabic Fiction.
