Ashur Etwebi

Ashur Etwebi, born in Tripoli in 1952, is one of Libya’s best-known authors. He is now married, has five daughters and three sons, and is professor of medicine at the university of Zawia, in Libya.

He has published six books of poetry: Qsaed Al-Shorfa (Balcony Poems), Asdiqaoka Maro Min Huna (Your Friends Have Passed Through Here), Nahr Al-Mosika (Music River), Sundok ADhahikat Al-Qadima (Box of Old Laughs), Qsaed Min Aala Alhadaba WaZilal Al-Raml (Poems from Above the Hill and Sand Shadows), Fi MaaRifat Al-Ashyaa Wa Al-Kaena (On understanding creatures and things ), a novel, 'Dardadeen', and three books of translation; Anthology of international poetry, 'The Sky Quake', a long poem by Vicente Huedobro, and Sadat Al-Haiku: Masters of Japanese Haiku in four centuries.

He currently lives in a small village 20 km west of Tripoli.
