Najwa Binshatwan was born in 1970 in Ijdabla, Libya. She has an MA in educational sciences and lectures at Garyounis University. After her first poetry collection (2002) she became an award-winning dramatist. She has three collections of short stories and one novel. She was selected as one of the Beirut39 young Arab writers – see the anthology Beirut39.
