Lara Hamza's publications include poetry in Inclined to Speak: An Anthology of Contemporary Arab American Poetry (2008) edited by Hayan Charara, and nonfiction in Arab Detroit: From Margin to Mainstream (2000) edited by Nabeel Abraham and Andrew Shryock. 

She received a BA in English and Near Eastern Studies from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and an MFA in creative non-fiction and poetry from Ohio State University. 

She is writer-in-residence with the Detroit Literacy Arts Project, InsideOut, founded by poet Terry Blackhawk.
