Born in Kuwait in 1970s to Palestinian parents, Deema moved to the US to study at Tufts University. She says of her poetry "inspired by a sense of loss, combined with the tragedy of the Palestinian experience". Her poetry is published in such anthologies as The Poetry of Arab Women, Contemporary Arab-American Poetry and Inclined to Speak.
