Salwa al-Neimi
was born in Damascus, Syria. Since the mid-1970s she has lived in Paris where she studied Islamic Philosophy and Theatre at the Sorbonne. In 1980 she published her first collection of poetry. Since 1981 she worked as a journalist on Arab magazines and newspapers. She published a collection of short stories in 1994 and two poetry collections in 1996 and 1999.
