was born in Taiz, Yemen. She has a PhD in architecture from Cairo University (2008). She has published five collections of stories and three novels, with selections translated into English, French and German. She has received a number of literary awards in both Yemen and Egypt, including, in 2001, the President of the Yemen Republic award for young writers.
