(b. Iraq, 1961) studied civil engineering in Baghdad and Delft. A project manager in Baghdad until 1990, she supervised metropolitan projects including those for drinking water and waste water installations. She is currently employed as a policy advisor in integral water management in the east of the Netherlands. Her debut novel De schatkamer van Babylonië [Treasures of Babylonia] was published in 2006.
