was born in Rabat and educated in Morocco, Great Britain, and the United States. She is the author of the short story collection Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits and the novel Secret Son, to be published April 2009. Her work and articles have appeared in many US newspapers and magazines, including The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation, The New York Times, The Washington Post. She is the recipient of a British Council fellowship and a Fulbright fellowship. She is currently an assistant professor of creative writing at UC Riverside, USA.
