is well-known author and has published four collections of short stories. His first novel, Gulmohar, will be published in 2009. He is Director of the MA programme in National and International Literatures in English at the University of London’s Institute of English Studies, and is currently a judge of the Saif Ghobash – Banipal Prize  for Arabic literaray Tranlation.
