was born in 1967 in Aleppo, Syria. He went to live in France in 2000. He has an MA in “Women Arab Poets after Nazik al-Malaika” from the University of Paris VIII and is currently working for a PhD on “The Prose Poem in Contemporary  Arabic Poetry”.

He is a poet and literary critic, and has published his poems and articles in numerous newspapers and periodicals, including Nizwa, al-Hayat, al-Moulhak, and As-Safir. He has two collections of poetry, Kamaroun Yabison Yatani Bihayati (Dar Al-Jadid, Beirut, 1998), published in French translation as Une lune sèche veille sur ma ville (Editions Comp’Act, 2004), Saif Yonanai (Editions Mérite, Cairo, 2006), and has edited an anthology of contemporary Syrian poetry, Nawares Sawdaa (Maison de la Poésie, Algiers, 2007). He has also authored a book of critical essays on contemporary women’s poetry in Arabic, Récipient de la douleur (Clapas, 2007). The Arabic originals of the poems translated in Banipal 31 are part of a forthcoming collection.
