was born in Baghdad in 1965. She studied English Literature at Baghdad University and has published three collections of poetry in Iraq and one in Tunisia (1997). She has lived in Michigan, USA, since 1996 and is studying for an MA degree in Oriental Studies at Wayne State University. She was short-listed for the International Griffin Poetry Prize in 2006 for her collection The War Works Hard, translated by Elizabeth Winslow.
