was born in Sohag, Egypt, on 27 August 1967. He has four acclaimed collections of poetry. He has read his works at several international poetry festivals and has poems translated into Dutch, French, German and English. In 2001 he participated in the Swiss-Egyptian New Writings project in Cairo, and a volume of his selected poems was published in a German edition in 2004 (Sabon Verlag, Switzerland). He is a journalist on cultural affairs for Cairo’s radio and television magazine.
