Maisoon Saqr is a poet and painter, born in Abu Dhabi. She has MA in
Economics and Political Science from Cairo University (1981). From 1989 to 1995
she was Director of the Department of Culture in the UAE Ministry of
Information and Culture.
She has published over twelve collections of poetry and has held solo exhibitions of her paintings in Tunisia, Bahrain, Egypt and UAE. In April 2002 there was a major exhibition of her work in Paris, France. She has participated in many group
exhibitions, including in Washington DC, Amman, Jordan, and Abu Dhabi, UAE. She
lives between Cairo and Abu Dhabi.
Her poetry has appeared in international anthologies, and she has taken part in many
festivals across the Arab world and Europe.
Her novel Rihana, was published in 2003 by Dar Hilal.
