POETRY

Excerpt from The Interpretation of Marble
In the forthcoming Banipal 64, Spring 2019 issue, ten years on, we remember Bassam Hajjar, translator, philosopher and poet, with a profile and translations of his poetry by Farnaz Perry. Banipal 28, Spring 2007, featured poetry from Lebanon, and that summer Bassam Hajjar was to have been one of the Lebanese poets reading in the UK, but his sickness was to prevent that visit. He very sadly died in February 2009. Here is a selection from the poems published in Banipal 28.
