Maya Abul Hayyat
is a Palestinian writer of
novels, poetry and short stories. She was born in 1980 in Lebanon. She
completed her BSc degree in Civil Engineering at Al-Najah University in 2003, and
since then has written a number of books of stories and poetry.
In 2005 she was
awarded the Young Creative Writer Award by the Ministry of Culture, followed in
2006 with the Young Writer Award for Poetry from the A. M. Qattan Foundation.
Her short story for children, The Red
Bird was translated into English in 2011, and her new novel will be
published by Dar Al-Adaab in January 2013.
